How Safe Is Taking Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg For Elevating BP Levels?
My bp was 161/98 I am on Metoprolol tartrate 50mg I just took another half as I have noticed bp getting higher in the afternoons regularly. I am 52 years old female 5ft 7in and 64kgs I do not eat added salt and excercise (dog walking) every day. Ta
Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient it appears that you are using electronic BP apparatus to measure BP. These instruments are usually inaccurate and tend to give much high or low readings than the actual readings. Metoprolol is a good drug and adding half a tablet may not cause any problems but first of all you should go to your doctor and get your BP measured using a mercury sphygmomanometer, and if still your blood pressure comes out to be high then your doctor can advise you on appropriate drug for that. Please make it a rule never to stop, increase or decrease blood pressure medication without consulting a doctor. Regards
