How Long Will Be The Recovery Process For Myositis?
My husband, age 77, was recently hospitalized for myocitis due to an allergic reaction to Zocor and Multaq. His labs are almost back to normal. His cardiologist wants to put him back on Multaq. He is still very tired and weak. I am concerned. How long should it take for him to be back to his normal self. He always went all day long - not real speedy but able to be putzing all day. Now he has difficulty walking or standing for any length of time.
Hello, Generally statin induced myosotis improves within few weeks after cessation of statin but in some cases it may take several weeks to become normal. In very rare circumstances, patient may develop autoimmune necrotising myopathy which continues despite cessation of drug. This condition is diagnosed by doing anti HMGCR antibody test. Thanks
