How Long Should Alendronate Sodium Tablets Be Taken For Osteoporosis?

I was wondering how long I would have to take Alendronate Sodium Tablets for my osteoporosis - do you take it for a number of years or just 1 year. Not sure how this works and I did not think to ask my physician this question. Or is this something that I will take for the rest of my life?

I have studied your case with diligence.

Check your bone strength with DEXA SCAN and you can start medication according to level of osteoporosis,
You need to start supplement of calcium with vitamin D, vit B12, and if osteoporosis is severe then bisphophonates can be taken for maximum 2 years.
I will advise you to do regular physiotherapy and exercises as my patients find much relief by these therapies.

You need to take diet rich in calcium and vitamin D.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
