I have had side effects taking the levonelle morning after pill. Took it on Sunday morning, experienced heeadaches, queasiness, period started within four days of taking it, diaorrhoea and feel drained! I was wondering how long do these side effects last? This is now five days later. Thanks.

Hi

The appearance and duration of side effects with hormonal pills differ from person to person. In certain women, side effects reduce with subsequent cycles.

Fluctuations in hormone levels caused by the menstrual cycle can trigger headaches for some women.Other women may find that the drop in estrogen that accompanies menstrual bleeding can cause or worsen their headaches.

Taking your birth control pill at the same time every day may help reduce side effects. This is because your hormone levels remain steady. If you take a pill early one morning and then take one again in the afternoon the next day, it creates a gap between doses. This can cause a shift in your hormone levels and may prompt a headache.

Hope that was helpful.Let me know if i can assist you further.
