How Long Does Ascites Take To Recover While On Lasix And Spironolactone?

I have alcholic cirrosis and had been drinking heavily for 2 months ater being sober for 7 months. I have not drank for 1 week. I have developed ascites in the last couple of weeks. How long will it take to go away? I m taking 40 lasix and 100 spironactolone per day.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Since you are alcoholic and have developed cirrhosis of liver with ascites, it is difficult to predict the outcome of your illness since the damage has been done to the maximum.
Lasix and Spironolactone will decrease fluid in abdomen as they are diuretics. But you always have a tendency for it to get collected.
You need to stop alcohol completely and consume diet rich in proteins like albumin (white portion of egg). Albumin helps to maintain the colloidal osmotic pressure and prevents fluid from accumulation in the abdominal cavity.
