Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 60 year old female who recently had a echo and stress test that showed my EJ close to 30%. I had a heart cath that showed closer to 40%. My Dr. said at first I should get an ICD. I didn't like the idea. Now I have read more and think I really should get one. I was diagnosed with LBBB and cardiomyopathy in 1998. EF at that time was 35-40. I have been on meds since and just recently started to go down. I am 5ft 6in and weight 162. I also have had thyroid problems. JB
Hi Left bundle branch block (LBBB) is a cardiac conduction abnormality seen on the electrocardiogram (ECG). In this condition, activation of the left ventricle of the heart is delayed, which causes the left ventricle to contract later than the right ventricle. Ejection fraction less then 35% is a indication of icd in patients with LBBB,as patient with compromised ejection fraction are more suseptible to arrythmia and sudden cardiac death whose ecg shows lbbb. Its a class 1 indication for ICD, so you should get a icd implanted as early as possible . thank you
