How Do I Know If My Child Has Swallowed Advil?

I had a bottle of 200 mgs im of Advil PM in my purse and I'm assuming it wasnt closed all the way because the bottle is child proof and he wouldn't of been able to open it. I walk out side and he comes along like 3 mins later with two in his hand He will be 3 in November and weights 27 pounds as of last Tuesday.(if you needed to know all that) I don't know how many were exactly in the bottle but it did have maybe a little bit left but like I said I didn't know the exact amount. I asked him if he swallowed them or ate them like candy but He said he didn't swallow nor eat them, but he's only 2 almost 3. can always trust their word

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Advil at high doses usually causes Nausea, heartburn or stomach pain, dizziness, headache, lack of response to moderate pain, respiratory distress, flushing or bluish coloration of skin or mucous membranes, which usually occur within 4-6 hours of accidental overdose . If the child has Ingested more than 200 mg/ kg in this case say 10 tablets or so then it's best to rush to the hospital . Otherwise if u suspect that only one or two tablets might be ingested and there are no symptoms yet , you may wait and watch. It's always best to get your child evaluated by your doctor as and when feasible since young children may not complain of discomfort .
Wishing you good health.
Regards

Hello,
Your son is almost 3 years old. You are complaining that your son might have taken Advil PM. It is a combination of ibuprofen + diphenhydramine citrate which has got pain relieving and hypnotic effect.
Better to consult a pediatrician and do a stomach wash immediately and observe the child for development of any unwanted symptoms.
Nothing to worry.
Best wishes for your son
