Hello,

As per your query you have symptoms of tonsillitis along with a severe cough which seems to be due to severe Upper respiratory tract infection. You need not worry. I would like to advise you the following
- Do warm saline gargles with a pinch of salt water.
- Take a cough expectorants.
- Avoid cold carbonated beverages.
- Maintain complete hygiene.
- Take steam inhalation is very effective for you.

If symptoms keep on persisting consult ENT specialist once without any delay. The doctor may order a blood test, throat swab test and may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for ten days along with decongestants and mucolytic agents.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
