How Can Persistent Cough After A Tonsillectomy Be Treated?

My 17 yr. old son had tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy back in November, & has had a persistent cough ever since! He has no other symptoms & doesn t feel sick...just has constant tickle in his throat making him constantly cough! It has become very annoying. I worry that it is a warning sign for some other illness! What should we do? He had his post-op appt. with his Dr. In early Dec. & had the cough @ that time, but we just attributed it to a cold.....no longer think it s a cold!
