How Can Itchy Red Spots On The Toes Be Treated?

about a week ago, two of my toes started to itch, I did not see anything on them. A couple days later I could see tiny red dots on them. I have used a hydrocortisone 1%cream and triamcinolone acetonide 1%. Both helps with the itch, however, what can I do to get rid of this. its worse when my feet gets hot.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You might have a fungal infection of the toes. Having steroid cream will reduce the swelling and inflammation but will not treat the fungal infection, actually in some cases it might get worse because steroids may reduce immune response.

To help with it you may use an antifungal cream like clotrimazole or miconazole or you can find over the counter cream for athlete's foot. Apply it twice a day for 7-10 days. You can use the steroid cream (hydrocortisone) once a day only. Make sure you keep your feet clean and dry and wear cotton socks.

If no improvement in 3-4 days or any worsening please see your doctor.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
