How Can Hypothyroidism Be Treated?

Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was wondering if there would be any medicine out there without sodium in it to take for this? It seems I also have high blood pressure and do not want to take any meds that have sodium because of that. I understand I would need a prescription from my doctor for any meds, but was wondering if there was any specific name of the medicine that had no sodium to use for hypothyroidism.

Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. since you are recently being diagnosed with hypothyroidism thus consult an endocrinologist for the dosage [since you may require very low dose in initial stage]

PS. Since there is no alternative to the hormone in any -pathy thus one has to continue with thyroxine.

2. I at most can let you know about the diet which one can take in hypothyroidism:

. AVOID: refined carbohydrates (packed cereals, white bread-rice-flour, pasta, cakes ,biscuits, sugar, honey, fruit juice concentrates, ’starch’, watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, potato, carrots, dried fruits, ice cream, chocolates, jellies, pizza), and especially Milk which is cause for reduced absorption of thyroxine
.TAKE: fresh green vegetables,whole grains,olives,soy products,whole legumes (peas,beans,lentils),brown rice,oatmeal,barley.

PS. As detected with Hypothyroidism, check with a Gynecologist to exclude another cause and effect of the same, i.e. PCOS, along with Hb%, Lipid Profile, and blood sugar level

3. For a safe alternative to levothyroxine sodium, you may consult your attending physician or an endocrinologist, since it is a prescription drug, but do remember that in Ayurveda the main cause of HYPOTHYROIDISM is iodine deficiency, so I usually prescribe iodine-containing drugs.
