How Can Heavy And Painful Menstruation Be Treated?

I came on my period on the 3rd and off on the 7th.. Then I started back bleeding heavily passing huge blood clots a week later. It has been over 10 days and I'm still bleeding heavily and passing these huge blood clots.. it is impossible to do things because of the amount of blood and clots coming out... With this I also have abdominal pain that gets worse when I stand.. What can I do to stop this?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern.

1. You should consult with an OBG/GYN Doctor in taking up your case history and excluding factors for menorrhagia, and thereafter proceed further, I at most can let you know about the symptomwise approach:

. check with TVS [trans vaginal sonography] and pap smear test.
. check your Hb%, WBC, Bleeding disorder profile, Thyroid Function Test.

2. Regarding your present complaint of heavy bleeding, you can take medicine like tranexamic acid 500mg 3 times a day for 3 to 5 days and If it doesn't work, you can take a high dose of progesterone to stop the bleeding after consulting with your Gynecologist.
