How Can Headaches And Breathlessness Caused By Head Trauma Be Treated?

I bumped my head ( not really hard ). After that, I experience shortness of breath and head ache. the head ache was on sunday night and I'm scared. From the incident since this day of Wednesday, I can't breath well. Is this fatal? No blood came out of my head. Thank you.

Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. Head injury leading to breathlessness is uncommon. The cause of breathlessness needs to be ruled out, so that your problem can be properly managed.

You have to observe few things to make some conclusion like
: Is breathlessness associated with exertion, which you were able to do previously but not now? If yes, it could be due to some cardiac cause!
: Does this occur with some whistling sound during exhalation? It is usually associated with asthma or allergic condition.
: Does this occur when you are emotional or frightened? It could be due to anxiety-panic reaction or less likely asthma.
: Do you have fever, chest pain during breathing? It could be lower respiratory tract infection.

Head injury usually does not cause breathlessness. Only serious head injury affecting respiratory centre can affect breathing. It is already ruled out as you are conscious and oriented. You should observe above mentioned point and still in doubt, you can consult physician. He might examine your chest, advise Chest X ray and some breathing tests to confirm diagnosis. Each condition needs separate kind of management. But do not worry, all are treatable.

Thanks. Hope it will help you. Thanks.
