How Can Arm Swelling Caused By Superficial Phlebitis Be Treated?

I have had swelling in my left arm for a year. It was ruled I have superficial phlebitis. I did an aspirin regimen and then tried steroids to get rid of my swelling, but it didn't work. I know have been going to a Lymphedema Clinic and tried compression to help my swelling, but so far this has not worked. I feel like we're treating the symptom, but not the cause. Nobody seems to know what to do, because I am so not typical of this. I am 37 and very active. What are other things we could do to treat my superficial phlebitis or is there possible other causes for my arm swelling I should look in to.
