Hole In Septum Of Nose. Scheduled For Skin Grafting. Will There Be Nerve Damage?

Hi, I have a hole in my septum of the nose. The doctor says that he can operate but he would have to cut the nose and pull one side up and the other side down. Then they would do a skin graft from behind my ear. This would alter my appearance and thin my nose. Would my appearance be changed much and would there be nerve damage on my face due to cutting the nose?

Hi thanks for your question.
Nasal perforation is repaired easily without any change in facial appearance; however there could be slight change in nose structure, and it has to be there as a repair is being done on a structure and slight amount of structure variations occur after every surgical procedure. Skin graft taken from behind the ear is very, very thing and it heals without leaving any scar there. There is no nerve involved in this procedure and no chance for nerve damage.
Hope this answers your question
