History Of Vasospastic Angina Episodes. Taking Zebata For SVT And PAC. Due To Alcohol?

The last two times I had a margarita at dinner I had an episode of vasospastic angina. I had it once 7 years ago and had a heart cath when vasospastic angina was dianosed. I have not had it again until recently. My cardiologist says I also have SVT and PACs. I take 5mg of Zebata daily. It never happens with wine or a mixed drink. Does the alcohol in the Margarita cause it? I know that sounds crazy.

Thanks

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Alcohol by itself, can certainly cause coronary spasm.
In the drink, there are several other additives, which also could be contributing...
It is risk, not worth taking...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck

General & Family Physician Dr. Masroor Mir Hussain's  Response
No it is very unlikely that alcohol in margarita may be causing this. Alcohol in the short term is a dilator of blood vessels and does not cause spasms. However if taken in large quantities over long term it can cause build up of atherosclerosis and can cause heart problems.
