High BP, Stroke Risk. Prescribed Corversyl. Why Is The Risk Not Reducing?

Hi Samuel, I have just been prescribed Corversyl by my doctor to control high blood pressure. Currently about 165/95. Based on risk of heart desease/stroke. I have just used the on line stroke risk calculator on this site which comes out at a risk of <35 over the next 10 years. The same score comes out regardless of whether I put my systolic pressure in at 165 and say I am not taking medication, 165 and taking the medication ,120 and not taking the medication and 120 and taking the medication. Based on this my risk does not seem to be reduced by taking the medication. Can you comment? Andy

Dear Sir/Madam
1. There is no doubt that with reduction of blood pressure future risk of stroke will decrease. This risk may decrease by upto 40% with various medicinal and non-medicinal measures (provided they are able to reduce your BP).
2. Please check if the software of the website you are using is working correctly? Try using some other web site. (http://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/tools-quizzes/calculators/stroke-risk-calculator.aspx)
3. You may contact the administrator of website for clarifications.
Sincerely
