Hernia On Rib Cage,foot Injury, Prescribed Surgery If Hernia Ruptured. Suggestions?

If a large noticeable hernia on side of rib cage (a result of auto accident 5 years ago) presents no symptoms other than balance due to foot injury from same accident. Would surgery be worth risks? Pros and cons I know, but would like to know if it should be considered. MD said only concern would be if hernia should rupture.

Hernia,any where,should be reduced and repair done,as it has got complications,but you have not mentioned what hernia it is? It is better if you consult Surgeon immediately for necessary advice and management.
