Heavy Periods, Unstopped Bleeding After Taking 72 Hours Pill. Possible Pregnancy If Had Sex During Bleeding?

My name is Luanne and I had a question about the 72 hr. pill. Recently i took the 72 hr. pill after having sex with my boyfriend and my period had not come down as of yet. After 3 days of taking the pill I started to have a heavy period and have been bleeding for the past 5 days and still am. However I had sex with my boyfriend again and wondering if I could conceive although I am still bleeding?

Emergency contraceptive pills are effective when taken within 72 hrs of unprotected intercourse.
But they have a high hormonal content.
When taken, they cause hormonal imbalance in the body...which can explain the heavy period and bleeding.
The presence of bleeding rules out the possibility of pregnancy.
However, the heavy period and bleeding can be due to many causes like hormonal imbalance(as already explained), stress, any infection or pathology in the uterus, ovary, etc.
So, kindly consult a Gynecologist & get a proper clinical examination done.
Investigations like complete blood count, Ultrasound scan of abdomen and pelvis will be helpful to rule out any pathological cause for your symptoms.

There is no any chances of pregnancy because you have heavy bleeding.
There is no chances of pregnancy after sex during bleeding but chances of infections is there.Take proper local care and always go for protected sex.
Bleeding is due to pill,it may last 5 to 7 days due to individuals hormone response.
But if it persist than you have to consult gynecologist.
