Heart Races. Why Does Chest Ache? What Is Wrong?

Hi, I am a 55 year old female. Daily I can feel my heart beating in my chest , neck , and head. Mostly I hear this on the left side.A lot of times I awake in the morning with a start and have this sensation. My pulse is not fast. Sometimes I feel an ache in my chest but it goes away. I have never been diagnosed with high blood pressure . Thank you.
