Heart Palpitations, Tightness In Chest, Strange Sensation In Throat. What May Be The Reason?

Hi, I have had heart palpitations before but they have become regular in the last 3-4 weeks (they now happen daily several - multiple times a day), however in the last 36 hours a severe tightness in my chest has developed too. My throat feels like I need to cough sometimes and the palpitations feel like my heartbeats are tripping over one another with a big thud to the chest that makes me lose my breath. The left side of my back and my left arm have been throbbing lately too and I can feel my heartbeat really well at the bottom of my throat. I'm 25, female, non smoker, non drinker, I exercise (not everyday), I'm not overweight and I barely drink coffee anymore. Should I go to my doctor or is the heatwave we're having have anything to do with this? My chest is feeling really quite tight right now.

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

It will be helpful if you give more information about any medicine you are taking.

After reading your post, I would suggest that you should get following investigations done :-
1. Hemoglobin levels.
2. Thyroid profile.
3. Serum electrolytes.
4. ECG(Electrocardiography).

Also get your blood pressure, pulse rate and temperature monitored.

Palpitations can be due to stress which can be mental or physical(including high temperatures).

I would suggest that you should go to your doctor and get yourself examined clinically.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
