Having Psychotic Episodes. Taking Antibiotics For Treating Folliculites. Side Effects Of Medicine?

Hi, My brother (33 yrs) has been having psychotic episodes (3 so far) for the last 5 months. He has made up a delusional theory by himself and relates day to day happenings in and around the family to his theory. He has been on different antibiotics and to treat folliculites including Accutane. Is he exhibiting side effects from the meds?

He refuses to admit that he has a problem and will not accept professional help. What should we do?

Thanks

Hello,
Welcome to health care magic.
Some antibiotics and accutane as well, are known to cause mood changes and psychiatric manifestation but mostly these problems are temporary and fully reversible once the drug is stopped.
So you can try stopping the drugs and see whether the the psychiatric problem resolves totally or not.
If it doesn't resolve fully then maybe it has started de-novo and in that case you should get re-evaluated by a local physician and get investigated if needed in this perspective.
There can be another problem that is contributing to the clinical scenario.
I hope the advice will be helpful for you.
