Have Pain And Numbness In Thumb. Had A Hit Earlier. No Medication Now. What To Do?

I jammed my thumb on a guys hip playing flag football last week, I've sprained my thumb before and it feels better in a few days, but this time it's just really sore and it won't really go away. I've iced it and taken ibuprofen and such but it still hurts and the ache goes right up my arm... it's really sensitive around the joint where my thumb meets my hands to move and to touch... not quite sure what to do.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing us,.
It will take 2-3 weeks for sprained thumb to heal. Do not lift weight or do exercises that involves painful muscle. Now doing hot fomatation and taking ibuprofen as and when required Will helps.
Hope this helps you.
Wishing youspeedy recovery
