Have Lump In The Armpit And Have Bleeding From The Lump. No Medication Now. What To Do?

Hi, I have had a lump in my armpit for about 3 months. I saw my family physician about it 2 months ago, and he said it was just a cyst and that it's fairly common especially in people who sweat a lot. He recommended treating it like an ingrown hair and draining it at home when it got too big or painful. The last two weeks, it has been growing much quicker and I have been able to drain it several times a day. Most of what comes out is an orange liquid, but I can sometimes get just blood to come out as well. Today, I was draining it again and the orange liquid was literally shooting out (usually it just runs out) and it has swollen more each time I have gotten anything out of it (I've drained it 4 times today). My entire armpit and about two fingerwidths into my chest is now bruised and it has swollen up larger than ever. I have called my doctor but he is not worried and said that the office could get me scheduled for an appointment sometime next week. Is there something else I should be doing, or is it okay to wait for another week and risk being told not to worry about it again? Thanks in advance for your time.

Hello,
From what you have written it looks you may have infection of multiple hair follicles of the your underarm leading to hydradenitis suppuritiva. If there is persisting infection you may need a course of antibiotics/excision of involved skin and closure with split thickness skin graft or local.
Wishing you speedy recovery
