Have Large Fibroid, PCP Insisting On Removing Entire Uterus. Is Removing The Fibroid Not A Good Option?

Hi, I have a large fibroid and my PCP insists on removing entire uterus. My Gyn suggested to explore something called uterine artery embolization. My question is why just removing the fibroid is not a good option. Also, what is edge rating, necrotic fibroid and can embolization cause it? Thanks.

Greetings of the day

Planning removal of fibroid depends on individual case merit.
If the fibroid are causing significant symptoms and if the size of the fibroid is less than 12 weeks the size of gravid uterus , just removal of fibroid will suffice. If the fibroid is large or its intrmural or submucosal complete removal of Uterus is advisable.

In case you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Wishing you happy and healthy life
