Have History Of Bulimia, Hiatal Hernia And GERD. EGD Found Irregular Mucosal At The EG Junction. Did Biopsy

I'm 21years old and i've history of bulimia for4years , hiatal hernia and GERD around 3years I've just done the EGD and found irregular mucosal at the EG junction . My doctor did biopsy some samples and sent them to pathologist and i will know the result in2weeks . However now i'm worried that the abnormal lining are esophaeal cancer. Is this cancer common in ex- bulimics with hiatal hernia and GERD? So stress now. I'm so sorry about what i've done to myself.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Esophageal cancer usually gives a lump in the esophagus, however irregular mucosa is possible. As you are GERD patient, chronic inflammation or Barrets esophagus are more possible. Esophageal cancer is quite rare disease. You are very young person what makes any cancer hardly possible.

So please do not be stressed and wait for biopsy results. In a meanwhile avoid coffee, alcohol, fatty foods, spicy foods.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
