Have Enlarged Prostate. Been Taking Ecosprin. Done Angioplasty And Turp Surgery. Is The Medicine Risky?
I have been taking ecosprin 150gm for the several years due to bypass of lima to lad done in 1999 and angioplasty of Lcs-om2.Now I am required to undergo Turp surgery for part removal of enlarged prostate. Urologist wants stoppage of ecosprin for 7 days whereas Cardiologist has advised stoppage for 5 days.Is there great harm if I stop ecosprin for 6 days before surgery. Please advise
Even in our set up we stop anti platelet agents are stopped for 5 days, it is a calculated risk the doctors are taking because there is risk of increased bleeding during the surgery if the Ecosprin is not stopped. Usually patients do well and there is no harm caused by stopping Ecosprin for 5 days.
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery
Regards
