For controlling pain MS you need a combined holistic approach to reduce pain. opiod medication will give her pain free state , but these medication need to be taken regularly .
I will advise you to do regular physiotherapy and exercises as she may get relief by these therapies. Meditation and accupuncture will help as supporting therapy. Some biologic injections have proven to halt progression of MS so consult your treating doctor to start those.

Have Chronic Pain In Back And Legs . Diagnosed With MS. Unable To Sleep. Advice?
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. Muscle pains and spasms can be improved with physiotherapy involving stretching and strengthening exercises. If the pains/spasms are very severe enough to limit the activities of daily living, then muscle relaxants like Baclofen or Tizanidine may be of help. If the pain is of neuropathic origin (sharp and stabbing pain), either Pregabalin or Gabapentin or Amitriptyline usage will resolve the symptoms. Hope this information is helpful. Good day
