Have Chronic UTI And Yeast Infection. Taking Cipro And Trimethoprim. Any Advice?
I have chronic UTI and yeast since may 2010 went to E.R for dehydration and infection I am on cipro for a week and then tTrimethoprim 100mg for at least ninety days or longer This problem is really making me sick - uncomfortable running to bathroom ever 10 minutes or more. If this doesn't work more test will be done Any advice would be appreciated thank you Ali

Hi,
As you have chronic infection since long, requires evaluation of your case.
Go for urine culture and sensitivity test to know causative organisms and antibiotic effective against it.
After report go for long specific antibiotic medicne course to get complete cure.
Also go for ulrta sound of kidney to rule out any problem in kidney as any infective foci in kidney can give rise to chronic infection.
Take plenty of water.
Ok and take care.

For recurrent urinary infection cause needs to be identified and treated.
Get ultasound abdomen done for any stones and kidney problems, micturating urethrogram for vesico ureteric reflux.
Get blood sugar test done for diabetes, as there will be recurrent infection due to presence of glucose in urine.
Consult your doctor for examination and management.
