Have Aortic Stenosis. Have Difficulty Breathing And Chest Pain. Surgery Needed?
i have a aortic stenosis since i was born. But I have been monitored in the past 19 years but from recently checking, it is identified as severer. I had faint ( maybe once for a while) but not short breathing and chest pain now. My vavle's size is 0.7cm2 and pressure is 80. do you think I need to do surgery now or still wait and monitore?
There is no role for waiting. Once you experience a fainting episode with severe aortic stenosis, studies tell us that if we do nothing the life expectancy is about 3 years or less. You have done the right thing: monitor the stenosis until either it becomes severe and/or reveals symptoms; both conditions are present now so it is time for valve replacement.
