Hi,
Metformin is a useful drug in the treatment of PCOD as it can be continued into pregnancy safely. PCOD is the commonest hormonal irregularity observed in women of child bearing age, the cause for which is not known though it can be hereditary. It is usually associated with insulin resistance and the deformed pituitary-ovarian axis could lead to thyroid deficiency as well. You should consult an infertility specialist to get a complete hormonal assay and evaluation for conception; PCOD responds very well to treatment in most cases. Also, try to reduce weight if you are overweight. There is no specific food restriction, but avoid fatty foods and take lot of fresh vegetables and fruits. Good luck.
