Have Cholesterol 244 And LDL 150. Should I Worry?

I am a 22 year old female and weigh 115 pounds at 5 2. I am in Clinical Lab Science school and had a chemistry panel run on me and found out I have high cholesterol . My CHOL is 244, TG 121, HDL 70, and LDL 150. I have no family history of high cholesterol and try and watch what I eat (staying away from dark meat and fried food for the most part). My question is whether or not my cholesterol is at a level for which I should be concerned about. And if so what actions should I take.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Yes...one MUST be concerned

The preferred level of LDL is 100 or less. It is high here - one and a half times.
HDL is good cholesterol - more, the merrier

You need life style changes - diet and exercise.
Being young, you must master the nuances - an expert dietician is ideal.

Re-check after 6 to 8 weeks.
Your level being rather high - it is very likely you will need drugs.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
Cardiologist Dr. Hemant Kumar's  Response
your HDL is 70 , is protective for you
as you are young, no family h/o heart disease , and you are healty - LDL 150 IS REASONABLE for you
as you are health conscious , check regularly
at present you do not need any medication

Hello
Well come to health care magic
Dear patient, your lipid profile not so bad at all that you should be worried about it, if you want to improve it more ,what you need to do is just avoid fatty meals and high calorie intake as you have been doing, go for regular cardiac exercises for 5 hours a week , and take more fruits and vegetables, ,that is all
wish you best of health
Thanks
Dr Arshad
