Has A Sciatic Nerve Problem. Have Regular Falls, Looses Control Of The Legs And Collapses. Suggestions?

My Dad has a sciatic nerve problem which he is waiting to see a specialist about. His appointment is in a months time, however he has started having regular falls, saying he just looses control of his legs and collapses. I thought perhaps that the nerve is so inflammed, that messages from brain to legs is failing, and maybe worth taking an anti inflammatory. What are your thoughts? Is this common? Thanks,Victoria

Hello Victoria,
Sciatica can cause nerve affections in the affected limb. The inflammatory changes with pain etc. occur at the initial period of the disease. Now the stage of the disease is worse because the patient is complaining of paralysis. What he says is 'he loses control of the legs and collapse.' This is an advanced case. There is no meaning in calling the condition with the name of a disease like SCIATICA. The stage of the disease is more important. Since the paralysis has set in it is not a good condition.
Your information about the regular falling of your father gives me to suspect that his brain functions also can be affected. You have not mentioned about the age of the patient and other medications he takes. If he has taken lot of suppressive and strong chemical drugs, he can have symptoms of dementia He needs medical examinations and investigations to rule out Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. If he is a very senior individual, his falling can cause breaking of bones . You have to be careful about that.
My advise as a Homoeopath is to take your father to an expert Homoeopath at the earliest because in Homoeopathy, we treat the individual and not the disease. In your father's case, your decision that he is having sciatica and he should be taken to a specialist is wrong. He has to be studied in his totality. There are chances of multiple system affections. His mind and body have to be studied together in order to find remedies to give him better and longer health. Homoeopathy can do it in the best way.
With best wishes,
