Harsh Noise In Left Ear, Pounding Sensation, Can Sleep Only On One Side. Causes?

Lots of noise is coming from my left ear. It sounds like someone beating their hand on a table or someone walking up and down steps... I am on my way to medical center to have it looked at because I started last night and I was up half the night. I can only sleep on one side becuase if I sleep on the side with the left facing up... the pounding is more intense.

HI I have through your mail and as you said that you are having continuous unwanted sounds of different kind on your left ear which is disturbing your sleep as well. After listening your problem I would like to say that this type of sound in ear is due to a disease called as TINNITUS, this is caused by spontaneous depolarization of hair cells of internal ear. There is long list of factors responsible for this some of them are- Wax in ear, Fluid in middle ear ( S.O.M. ), Advancing age, hypertension, Labyrinthitis ( infection of internal ear ), Neuritis of acoustic nerve, Tumours of C.P. angle of brain, Drugs (few drugs which are having ototoxicity as a side effect ) etc .SO you are advice to consult your family physician and E.N.T.specialist for clinical examination and to work out for diagnosis and treatment.Thanks
