Had Vaginal Swab Examination. What Are The Findings?

hi doctor
i am 32 years old

in microbiology vaginal swab examination :
specimen high vaginal swab
gram stain few gram (+ve)cocci seen
type of culture bacterial
result culture normal flora grown after 48hr of incubation


wet mount;
pus cells 0-2/hpf
rbc 0-2/hpf
epithelial cells: few
candida :not seen
trichomonas :not seen
is this normal result

Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

As you have seen, few gram positive cocci were seen and following culture, normal flora was grown.

In wet mount, very few pus cells and RBCs seen which can be accepted as normal.

So going by the results you dont have anything to worry.

Hi, Thanks for writing in to us. As you have seen, few gram positive cocci were seen and following culture, normal flora was grown. In wet mount, very few pus cells and RBCs seen which can be accepted as normal. So going by the results you dont have anything to worry. Hope this helps
