Had Pelvic Floor Repair Surgery Using Biological Mesh, Still In Pain. Any Medication That Can Help ?

I had a pelvic floor repair surgery using biological mesh four years ago. I still have pain. My current urogynecologist (not the surgeon who did the surgery) has me on Naprelan for inflammation from scar tissue and amitriptoline for hyperarousal from an entangled pudendal nerve. Is there any other medication you can suggest to help with these problems? My doctor and I want to avoid surgery. He tried a pudendal nerve block but it did nothing. He is considering a botox injection.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that is commonly used for nerve related pain.
There are other medications that can be used if this is not effective. Anti seizure medications and other classes of antidepressants (the SSRI) are also used for nerve pain in addition to their other uses.

Examples would be gabapentin, lyrica, tegretol, fluoxetine, paroxetine, setraline, citalopram.

The options are the above medications, the botox or surgery. If your doctor exhausts the medications then he or she can try the botox injections and see if it works for you.

I hope this helps
