Had Cholesteatomas Removed, Tubes In Both Ears. Hearing Loss, Yellow Fluid From Ear Now. Cure ?

Had cholesteatomas removed from both ears in 2001 and tubes in both ears. The tube from the left fell out in 2008. Just this May I went swimming and incidentally went under water for a couple seconds. Since then I've had some loss of hearing to the left ear (muffled sounds) and I've had clear yellow fluid running from the ear. I've used the "wax vac" to no avail as well as cotton balls to absorb the wax. Any clues as to what this could be from as well as steps I should take?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, you have undergone surgery for cholesteatoma which involves a canal wall down mastoidectomy usually and a cavity remains posterior to exeternal auditory canal which gets collection of wax an debris. The patients are advised to keep ears dry after that. You have the water enter your ear and that must have made the debris in ear swell. Please go to an ENT and get your ear cleaned. You need cavity cleaning and otherwise also after canal wall down mastoidectomy, it is advisable to go to ENT every six months for any needs for cleaning. Regards
