Got Hit On Temple. Started Feeling Dizzy, Headache And Lump Appeared. Should I Be Concerned?

I slammed my temple ( right on the soft spot) Into the fireplace mantle corner while Christmas decorating. It hurt so bad I had to lay down, keep eyes closed because I felt so dizzy and the pain made me cry for about 5-10 mins. I have a lump now and it s very tender but then I felt ok. This evening about 12 hours later I started having a headache and feel pressure on that side. I expected a headache to go with the lump but is it normal that the headache started so late? What symptoms should I look for to followup with a doctor? Thanks

Hi Stylebygina,
Thanks for writing your query.

Headache and swelling is common after head injury due to soft tissue injury. Headache can appear after some time of injury and persists for prolong period for days to weeks. depending upon the severity of the injury.

You should feel concerned and consult a Neurophysician if following symptoms appear:-
1. Persistent headache
2. Nausea or vomiting
3. Loss of conscioussness
4. Loss of memory
5. Bleeding from nose or ears
6. Visual disturbance
7. Loss of balance of body
8. Episode of convulsions
9. Irritability or confusion

In addition to above symptoms, if you feel anything abnormal in your body, you should immediately consult your doctor. Take medicines only under medical supervision only.
It is advisable to take proper rest for speedy recovery.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
