Get Loose, Mushy Stools Since A Week. Taking Prozac Since Months. Guidance?
I am having concerns about my digestive health. Based on the Bristol Stool Scale, the content of my toilet bowl is a type 5 to a type 6, loose mushy stools. This has been going on for more than a week and my diet has not changed, Ive been on Prozac for about a month now, and Im not sure if it's the medication or what. Please help! Thanks
Prozac or fluoxetine has varied side effects on the bowel - diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, nausea, flatulence and abdominal pain. Some symptoms like nausea gradually disappear but some like flatulence tends to persist for a while.
If there are accompanying symptoms like fever, vomiting, crampy pain in abdomen, there could be other causes for your problem.
It is best to visit the treating doctor to ascertain the cause.
Hope this helps, Dr Anjana rao.
