So I ve done allot of reading on it, but I still have one question unanswered about the surgery. After they make the new stomach, do they leave in the old one or take it out?

I just had a Gastric bypass 12 days ago. YES they leave your stomach in place after making the pouch. The stomach still produces stomach acids. These acids meet with the foods you eat in your small intestine to aid digestion. Remember the stomach is only a "mixing bowl" no actually fod absorbtion takes place there. So yes, you get to keep you stomach! I had my surgery 12 days ago and have lost 25 pounds. It is not easy. Learning how to eat is very difficult. There is quite a bit of pain while recovering from surgery. I didn't start feeling anywhere near normal until 10 days later. I wish you luck on your journey!

Hello I am 16 and lately I have been having stomach ach, mainly at the bottom and both sides of the lower abdominals . On top of that, I ve been sweating a lot during the day, right until the night and cannot sleep at all. When do I try to sleep, I feel a bit of pressure on the side of my lower abdominal. Lastly, I have a black stool each time I take the trip to the loo. I think this might be due to sitting on the coach all day and the lack of sleep. Also the late heavy snacks which I eat during the night. Although perhaps knowing what the causes are due to my problems, I just like to make sure. So could you help me. Thanks

For the past several months, I have been experiencing severe nausea (sometimes vomiting), dizziness , sweating/chills, and abdominal pain each and every time I have a bowel movement and also when I wake up morning. Sometimes it feels like I am very hungry but the thought of eating food makes me even more sick feeling. I am a Type II diabetic and I have been diagnosed with IBS at age 15. The only relief I get from these symptoms is by taking a hot bath/shower to soothe my stomach. I am a 31 y/o female, smoker.

I had gastric bypass surgery on June 11th. Last week I went back to work and 1 of he incisions strarted to bother me. It is red at the incision and the area surrounding it. The skin is also hot and it s painful. I called the dr and they said it was normal. I do not have a fever or stomach pain and the incision is closed so there is no puss or seepage of any kind. The nurse told me ice it and take Tylenol and eventually it would be ok. She said it was scar tissue healing and due to my increased activity it was very irratated. What do you think?
