So I ve done allot of reading on it, but I still have one question unanswered about the surgery. After they make the new stomach, do they leave in the old one or take it out?

I just had a Gastric bypass 12 days ago. YES they leave your stomach in place after making the pouch. The stomach still produces stomach acids. These acids meet with the foods you eat in your small intestine to aid digestion. Remember the stomach is only a "mixing bowl" no actually fod absorbtion takes place there. So yes, you get to keep you stomach! I had my surgery 12 days ago and have lost 25 pounds. It is not easy. Learning how to eat is very difficult. There is quite a bit of pain while recovering from surgery. I didn't start feeling anywhere near normal until 10 days later. I wish you luck on your journey!

For 3 days now my stomach has been hurting really bad on the lower right side. It hurts when i move or take a deep breath or if i press on it. The pain is sort of crampy and sort of sharp. Advill or motrin helps a little but it only lasts for a few hours then the pain comes back. Sometimes it hurts so bad that i double over and have to lay down. i dont have any other symptoms. I looked up the symptoms of appendicitis and the only one that i have is the pain on the lower right side. So could i still have it? Do you have any advice or answers? Thank You.

Yes I am a 35 yr old woman usually reasonably healthy. I had a merina coil fitted a yr ago and I will say it has dramatically helped with heavy bleeding I was experiencing and now have only light spotting once a month which is great. Although over this last year I have been experiencing sore knees and swollen knees and ever increasing stomach problems. The last few months I have been backwards and forwards to different GP s all seem to think it s something different from inflammation of the stomach lining, dyspepsia and this last week now IBS. I am taking now two different tablets 1 in the morning before eating omeprazole then 3 times a day before food mebeverine. And although initially seemed to help combined with removing wheat from my diet for a few days. But I m just nit feeling right and my stomach becomes distended and rock hard at times but then not others after eating I wake in the night with upper abdominal/stomach pain. I get headaches and am tired all the time and I feel very much like the GP isn t listening or doesn t care as no other tests apart from a breath test for h pylori which came back negative. I find myself trying to find out myself here online what might be wrong coz it s really getting me down and effecting my whole life as we can t eat out we can t have friends round as I m eating hardly anything incase it upsets me, my life is on hold! Could this be anything to do with my merina coil?? Any help or advice would be great I m at my wits end and want to get on with my life I am getting married in May and if I Just don t want to feel like this anymore. Pjlong

Hi, I am having problems with my stomach. Every time I am in a very quiet place e.g. library, meeting e.t.c. my stomach will make very loud rumbling noises. It is very embarrassing for me and it causes slight pain, as well. It only seems to happen in quiet places though; it never happens in loud environments. I hoping that you have some tips. Thank you.

For about 3yrs. I have been having some rather odd episodes. It started with being nauseous, vomiting and pain in the upper abdomen, under my left breast. As time progressed and the pain, nausea and vomiting continued other symptoms began showing up. I would become very weak and exhausted, pale, sweaty, shaky, dizzy, and swelling that comes and goes in the left, upper abdomen. The vomiting has been so forceful at times that my throat and stomach hurt. I have been woken up in the middle of the night and early mornings to vomit. The episodes are not always the same and not all of the symptoms are always present. Some days I am nauseous off and on all day, lasting 5 to 20 min. each time. Some days I have nothing and other days I will have one or more symptoms. I do a lot of fighting not to throw up but sometimes I just cant stop it. During these days I eat very little. Mostly fruits and crackers. I have not lost a lot of weight I think that is because I knew I needed to eat and would force myself to eat something, even when I was tired of eating and getting sick. I have seen many diff. specialists. I have had many, many test done. Blood test, x-rays, Scat-Scans with and with out dyes and chalky drinks, scopes ran into my stomach, a colonoscopy, and some tests I cant remember. They found nothing. Have even told my husband that it might be psychological. Sometime during all of these test I began watching everything I ate and how it effected me, to try and figure out the problem or a pattern and the only thing I have noticed is that the symptoms are worse around my period. A few days before my period I am very fatigued. I am more nauseous and it is harder to fight not throwing up. As a note, the docs. have all asked so I will include it in here. I have had my gallbladder removed.
