Gagged And Coughed Up Blood. What Could This Be ?

A few weeks ago i was brushing my teeth, brushed my tongue, then gagged. When I gagged it caused my to cough up mucus. I am a 26 year old smoker so that isn't uncommon. What was uncommon, however, was the presence of a decent amount of blood. After a moment of shock I remembered I hade ate my weight in red colored Darito chips before bed and discounted it as nothing. It then happened again this morning, but with far lass blood. It was also after gagging that this happened again. My throat isn't soar, but I do smoke so i force cough mucus out of my throat a lot. I am trying not to be too worried unless it happens more frequently because I have been struck with uncontrollable anxiety after convincing myself i have cancer on two seperate occasions

Hi,
Nothing to worry as bleeding might be from your gums or bitten tongue.
But as you are old smoker, smoker's cough is likely.
Go for x-ray chest to rule out any problem in your chest.
Quit smoking or smoke less as possible.
Do regular deep breathing exercise daily.
Avoid stress and anxiety.
Ok and take care.
