Flu, Ear Pressure, Balance Problem. History Of Bvvp, Cervical Spondylitis, Bulging Disc On Shoulders. Advise?

Since March 2007, I am suffering from Vertigo diagnosed as BVVP by the Neurologist from India. I also have cervical spondilitis and bulging disc on both my shoulders. I do neck exercises, balancing exercises and manage myself as I found medication did not help much except that I put on weight and became inactive during the medication period. Of late, I have been catching flu/cold every 2-3 months and it affects this problem in a big way. I am totally unsteady and my balance is also shaken up along with pressure on my ears. I try to walk with somebody at my side on the unsteady days but this has made me very insecure and unsure about myself at anytime and anywhere, hence I cannot go alone by myself for anything outside.

Will appreciate your kind advice.

Thanking you in advance.

Hello dear,

Regarding your present symptoms of recurrent cold/flu, it can be due to allergy to certain environment allergens.
The pressure in the ears is due to blockage of the Eustachian tubes.
Symptomatic relief can be obtained by taking anti histamines & montelukast preparations & nasal decongestants.

The feeling of unsteadiness is attributed to BVVP, in which pathology lies in semi circular canal of the inner ear which is associated with maintaining balance.

But BPPV can be managed by Eppley,s maneuver, which involves postural management to correct the pathology in semi circular canals.
So, kindly consult an ENT specialist & discuss regarding this.

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.
Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
