Acute tonsil infection is very common in this age group and most probable causative organisms ( bacteria) are streptococcus or staphlococcus . However other bacteria may be there. But I would like to say I will prescribe conservative treatment ( treatment by medicines) and this is very much effective. More or less if, any doubt take a swab from throat and culture ( also of blood ) will reveals the exact nature of bacteria. Drug sensitivity will reveal the proper antibiotics ( suits). If cough is dry , you may change antihistamine and anti pyretic is already there. Don t be in panic due to white patches over tonsils as these are normal in infection of tonsils.
