Feeling Extremely Emotional, Sensitive To Feelings. Was On Zoloft. Why Has It Stopped Working?

II was on zoloft for 6 years with great results. Now, it's stopped working. I've been on Pristiq for two weeks. I feel awful. All I want to do is cry. I feel like somebody died. I want to feel good again, the way I felt while on Zoloft. Is there anything out there close to Zoloft? Pristiq has left me feeling completely hopeless.

Thanks,
Sandra Staton

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your history.

It seems that you have worsening of symptoms while on regular treatment.
Reason of the on treatment worsening might be
- New stressor
- Inadequate dose of sertraline
- Poor compliance on your part
- Physical causes like thyroid dysfunction

Desvenlafaxin is also a very good anti depressant drugs. You may continue same as it may take time to start anti depressant action.

You should consult your psychiatrist to find out the reason for worsening of your illness.
Doctor may increase dose of desvenlafaxine or may switch over to different anti depressant drug like fluoxetine or escitalopram etc.

Meanwhile you may get better control by doing stress management, yoga, meditation etc.

Thanks.

hello,
thank you for using health care magic,
first of all i would like to know that did you changed your medication by yourself ?
if yes please never do that again.. playing with anti depressant drug without consulting psychiatrist can be dangerous as all these drug acts on your brain.. if you have changed it by yourself then consult your doctor asap..
pristiq might take about month to show its full effect so wait for while..even after month there is no improvement then consult your doctor again.. dose and drug in depression vary from person to person so it has to be individualised..
beside drugs you take counselling session , read positive book , try yoga or meditation it will help you lot..whenever you start feeling low try to engage your self in some activity which you like..
take care..
Regards,
Dr.Nehal..
