Ian 49 year old female & have been experiencing weakness in legs , fatigue & shortness of breath on & off for about 2 years. I am experiencing shortness of breath daily now, I have had respiratory tests, chest xray, echo stress test, which was relatively normal. My pah pressures were 20 at rest & 45 after exercising on treadmill, which are in normal range for my age group. I am still waiting to have coronary angiogram to check for valve or blocked arteries. I am worried there is is something seriously wrong . Please help

Hello dear,

The fact that respiratory tests, chest x ray, echo stress test has not shown anything rules out the presence of any Respiratory or Cardiac causes for the symptoms.

Under such circumstances, the symptoms can be due to:
1. Anemia- either due to decreased Hemoglobin production or deficiency of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Folic acid, etc. which helps in blood formation.
2. Inadequate hydration status & electrolyte balance of the body.
3. Any fluctuation in the blood sugar levels.
4. Hormonal & metabolic causes.
5. Stress, inadequate sleep, etc.

Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood sugar levels will be helpful to rule out any pathological cause for the symptoms.

And it is also needed that you take certain measures regarding diet & lifestyle, such as:
1. Take soft, plain, non-spicy foods
2. Drink lots of water to maintain adequate hydration
3. Avoid fast food.
4. Avoid smoking & alcohol.
5. Keep away stress..think positive.
6. Exercise regularly & practice meditation.

There is no need to worry, you will be fine.

Wishing a Good Health.
Thanks & take care.
