Does Unprotected Sex Cause HIV?

I had unprotected sex 10 days ago with my partner. Found out on Tuesday he cheated on me. I went out and drank quite heavily for 3 nights.. Took a day off to recover and now I have a headache, a hot head, painful neck, loss of appetite. Had a chlamydia test back today negative but symptoms similar to HIV. What are the chances? I have only had unprotected vaginal sex with him around 15 times and he said he was clean.

Thank you for query. The chances of transmission of HIV by sexual route is 1/ 200 to 1/2000 even if the partner is HIV infected. It is least as you have protected intercourse.if he is negative then there is no chance at all.The symptoms are non specific and can be due to viral or flu also. You can allay fear about HIV and STDs.If anxious go for HIV RNA PCR testing after 10-14 days of exposure. You can get back for any clarifications with details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and venereologist.
