Hello and welcome to HCM,
Presence of sugar in urine is not diagnostic of diabetes, however, it is an indication that a blood fasting and post-prandial test should be performed to rule out diabetes.
The urine test for sugar can be positive in number of conditions.
This includes presence of reducing substances in urine.
Certain drugs like aspirin and paracetamol are reducing substances and they can cause a false positive result in urine for sugars.
However, a fasting blood sugar will be helpful to clear the doubt.

Thanks and take care
