Does The Cystic Mass On The Thyroid Dissolve On Using Eltroxin?

I was diagnosed with colloid goiter, my ultrasound shows small hypoechoic cystic mass on the right thyroid lobe, my T3, T4, TSH are all within normal. The surgeon aspirated the mass, in which he had withdrawn blood. He prescribed me with Eltroxin. Will this mass disappear with Eltroxin? or I just have to increase my iodine intake?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concern.

Please let me know the values of your T4 and TSH.

If your thyroid function are well within normal limits there is no indication to start you on thyroxine though some doctors prefer starting it hoping your swelling will decrease by around 10-15%.

In my practice I wont start on thyroxine when TSH is below 2.5 , especially in cystic swelling which are unlikely to regress with this medications.

You can have normal iodine intake in food. This swelling may not be related to iodine deficiency.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
