Does Taking Birth Control Pills At Different Times Reduce Its Effectiveness?

I have just started my period - late afternoon. I have just started taking levlen birth control pills. I have taken the first one from the specified section of the package. The instructions state you need to take the pill at the same time every day. I am unlikely to remember to take a pill at this time of the day. My question is, will it matter if I take the next pill tomorrow morning at breakfast time, or will this compromise the effectiveness of the pill?
