Does High Blood Sugar Always Indicate Diabetes?

Hi I am 26 yrs female, I am very active and sleep for 7-8 hrs, today i casually had a sugar test through the gluco meter and I was so shocked to see the results my fasting sugar was 204. I often get indulged in exercise and do lot of work.Please help me am i really diabetic

Diabetes can be diagnosed based on fasting or 2 hour post meal blood sugars or HbA1c.

A fasting of greater than 126 normally indicates that a person is diabetic. You may want to consider repeating either the fasting blood sugar or doing an HbA1c to determine if this initial reading is accurate.

If the second test is also abnormal then it would confirm diabetes. This would be managed by lifestyle changes and medication.
